Watermelon Slushy our way...
Just wanted to share this recipe, a yummy watermelon slushy perfect for summer! It's a cooler, kids will love. Thinking that a grown up version with something a little stronger might be also a hit in the house for mamas and papas!
Watermelon Slushy our way...
Ingredients:
Fresh watermelon
2 tspn sugar
¼ cup water, cold, we use our Zip Water, Hydro Tap (Read more here)
1/2 of a lemon, juiced
4 sprigs of mint
Instructions:
Slice the watermelon into 1-inch chunks. Remove seeds.
Place watermelon chunks in a gallon-sized ziplok bag and place in the freezer.
Allow to freeze completely (recommend to lie flat to separate the chunks).
Mix water, lemon and sugar together in a small cup until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Remove from the freezer and open the bag.
Pour the water/sugar mixture into the bag, then reseal.
Smash the watermelon/water/sugar and break it up until it makes a nice, smooth mash.
Pour into cups decorate with mint. Perfect by the pool...
It's easy to make but the truth is, it took us two tries! Here's what you need to keep in mind. Make sure the chunks of watermelon are really frozen. Remove the seeds. Double up the freezer bag and wrap in paper towels to avoid leaking or braking the plastic bag. Eat with spoon, to hard with a straw.
Try and error... practice to perfect. Enjoy!
