Bliss at Talise Spa: Prenatal Massage
Lovely morning at the spa! Today, I was one lucky mummy... my sweet girlfriends treated me to a "prenatal massage" at the beautiful Talise Spa at Al Qasr Jumeirah. Talise offers serene atmosphere from the palm tree-lined pathway, to the flowery tropical garden, to the reception lounge to the elegant and cosy treatment rooms and the post-treatment relaxation area.
Get there early and enjoy the facilities! Make it worth it! Enjoy the spa private outdoor pool while the staff bring you something from the Wellness menu or take a dip in the water, soak up some sun and sip on complimentary water or order a healthy juice. The indoor relaxation areas include saunas, steam rooms and plunge pools for you to enjoy.
At arrival, in a traditional Dubai hospitality kind a way, I was welcomed with cold towel and infused water. After a quick tour, I was escorted to the changing room, were I was handed a key to the locker. A quick change and I headed to the pool for one hour of sun bliss.
Time for my treatment. I went back in, quick shower and slipped into a cosy robe and pair of flipflop. My therapist escorted me to one of treatment villa for the "Talise Pregnancy Massage" with specific techniques and oils which are proven safe and comforting. Areas are focused on which typically affect pregnant women such as lower back, shoulders and legs. Special oil is used to assist in preventing stretch marks. First resting on my side (you will get to switch side) with a rolled up towel comfortably adjusted under my tummy, I felt relaxed and in good hands. I asked for medium pressure, wish was perfect. It got to medium hard on my shoulders in order to relieve me from some knots and tensions. It felt needed and I felt confident with the therapist. After 60 minutes, I was feeling all the benefice from a massage. It eased muscular discomforts in areas like the low back and neck, relieve some tension and tightening. I could feel the increase blood and lymph flow and circulation which can help increase the elimination of toxins through the circulatory and lymphatic systems and of course I felt totally relaxed. The 90 minute version includes a mini facial to leave the “mum to be” radiant and relaxed.
To finish my pleasant morning, the lovely and professional therapist, lead me to the relaxation room with lounge beds to enjoy a cup of ginger tea, fresh apples and dates. I spent another 30 minutes of blissful relaxation. I did not take the time to (and from my condition) enjoy the plunge pool or use the steam room and sauna. Hopefully another time!
Talise Spa is a real treat. A treatment starts around AED500, but you can spend the day and enjoy the private pool and all the spa facilities from a five-star hotel. I believe for this price, Talise Jumeirah is great spa venue. Recommended!
