A special 30 Anniversary in the UAE - The Body Shop

Couple of days ago, I was very pleased to celebrate The Body Shop 30th anniversary of trading in the UAE. I grew up with The Body Shop, as a teenager I got my first eye make up from the brand. Lots of memories comes to mind when I look back. In 1995, when I arrived in Dubai with my parents, Dubai was not the shopping haven, it is now! The Body Shop store in Jumeirah was a beauty blessing for a teenager girl, a bit lost in the desert... I loved it! It's a family brand who appeal to different generations from mom to daughter.

The event celebrating The Body Shop 30 years achievement was hosted in their flagship store in Mall of The Emirates by Sultan Al Habtoor, Franchisee partner of The Body Shop in the UAE. The evening was also the occasion to launch the White Musk Smoky Rose Fragrance. A new signature fragrance based on the original iconic White Musk fragrance but this time the scent is more tantalising and floriental, an elegant and seductive approach created by the Sophie Labbé, the ‘nose’ behind the scent. I really enjoyed talking the the lovely Sophie, explaining with passion her take on the new fragrance, "fusion of bergamot, pink pepper and blackcurrant before rising to a floral-musky heart" and "bouquet of bittersweet tobacco flower and a unique black smoky rose accord is tempered by delicate orange flower".

The real emphasis should be put on the GOOD that stand for The Body Shop, the core values established by the brand. Pioneer of the time (70's) before organic and environment issues were some trendy marketing tools. 1/ The brand was already committed to reducing the impact on the environment by reducing the energy consumed and generating less waste and also changing attitudes around the world. 2/ The Body Shop source some of the finest raw ingredients from the four corners of the globe. They harness the skills of artisan farmers and add expertise to create effective products that are wonderful to use. They have 25 Community Fair Trade suppliers. 3/ All The Body Shop® products are certified by Cruelty Free International as meeting their Humane Cosmetics Standard. 4/ Ethical Trading is about brands, retailers and suppliers taking responsibility for the working conditions of the people who make the products they sell. It's about making sure that workers are treated fairly, with dignity and respect. Those are just examples of the beautiful core values of the brand. Not to be forgotten and also incentive to the customer purchase.

The highlight of the evening was for me talking to Christina Archer about the Fair Trade suppliers of The Body Shop. This amazing lady had beautiful stories about places and people visited and deep passion for the Fair Trade process behind the brand. Very inspiring! And I love my personalized, engraved fragrance... A treat!
